Tomorrow is Career Day... and Jack's Not Ready!

Jack doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up—and Career Day is tomorrow.

With so many options, how will Jack find the perfect career in enough time? His friends already have big dreams, but Jack feels unsure. After talking with his parents, he discovers a career that’s all about helping people and building their future.

Written by JacQuan Winters, When I Grow Up encourages children to explore their interests and reminds them it’s okay not to have it all figured out. This inspiring story helps kids see that their passions can lead to a purposeful future.

Meet JacQuan Winters

JacQuan D. Winters is an author, entrepreneur, youth advocate, and real estate professional based in Alabama. He is also the founder of the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization created in memory of his younger sister to promote youth suicide prevention and mental health awareness for children.

JacQuan’s journey as a writer is deeply personal. As a child, he struggled with reading and lacked interest in books. It wasn’t until adulthood that he discovered the value of storytelling and developed a true passion for literacy. Today, he is motivated to write stories where young people—especially those who may not have a close relationship with reading—can see themselves reflected and feel more connected to the joy of reading.

His books are written to teach valuable lessons, build confidence, and help kids see their potential. From encouraging positive thinking to introducing real-world topics, JacQuan uses each story as an opportunity to uplift and educate.

JacQuan and his wife, Chan, recently welcomed their first child. Becoming a father inspired him to write a book for his son—When I Grow Up—a story created to help children explore their interests and discover that helping others can be a part of their future.

Whether through writing, advocacy, or real estate, JacQuan’s mission is to serve, inspire, and create opportunities that shape lives for the better.
